THE life of Paul Ramsay AO was remembered by some of Australia's elite in Bowral.
Mourners included Prime Minister Tony Abbott, former Prime Minister John Howard, Governor-General Peter Cosgrove, James Packer and his estranged wife Erica Baxter.
The service took place at St Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church.
While the camera's were on Mr Packer and Ms Baxter, thoughts were with the Ramsay family and Mr Ramsay's closest friends.
Mr Howard was one of several to sum up the inspiring character of the well-known Ramsay Healthcare founder and philanthropist.
"He was a wonderful man, he radiated decency. The best way I could describe him is as a great example of an ethical capitalist," Mr Howard said.
It was a common held belief from many of those who attended that the Bowral billionaire was a wonderfully inspiring Australian.
While the funeral was held to celebrate the life of a highly-regarded businessman, plenty of attention, particularly from national media, fell on the reunion of two other high profile Australians.
In their first public appearance since their separation, Mr Packer and his estranged wife Ms Baxter travelled into the Highlands together to attend the funeral. The pair had their arms around each other as they left the service.
It was also Mr Packer's first public appearance since his clash with Nine Entertainment chief executive and friend David Gyngell and Mr Packer appeared to have a swollen eye.
A public service will be announced for Mr Ramsay at a later date.
