The two face-off with the scalp of perennial powerhouse Boomers at their most recent starts, Diamonds winning 1-0 ahead of a bye, Melrose 3-1 last Sunday.
Diamonds’ Bonnie Denison said her squad took the opportunity to watch the Melrose and Boomers clash.
“It was a very impressive game,” she said.
“Melrose did step up and it probably came as a bit of a shock to Boomers to lose two in a row.”
Melrose centre back Rachael Clarke rated last week’s win their best performance in three years.
“As a side we are really starting to gel,” she said.
“Boomers hardly had any shots and if they did they were a long way out and it takes a miracle to score from there.
“At the other end our forwards took their opportunities when they had them.
“But there is not much separating the top three teams.
“No matter what you did last week you have to front up and be competitive seven days later.”
Denison said part of their game plan would be to man-mark Melrose striker Lucy Smith to cut her opportunities.
