Police say a man, who had his face covered, smashed through a glass door of the Wagga Wagga business about 11am.
The employee ran from the scene and the man stole cash from the register.
Officers attended the scene but were unable to locate the man.
The offender is described as Caucasian, 165 to 170cm tall with a stocky or muscular build.
He was wearing a dark blue jacket, black track pants, light grey beanie and black shoes.
Police are urging anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
