North Ballarat rallied late to deny the Bushies a much-needed win, taking the game 13.8 (86) to 12.8 (80).
Bushrangers coach Darren Ogier was disappointed, especially as his charges had worked so hard at making up for a 21-point deficit at half-time.
“The last two games we’ve been in front and in position to win the game but haven’t got over the line,” Ogier said.
“It was a really good game of footy.”
With time running out, Ogier said, it came down to a couple of bad contests and poor decisions under pressure.
“But as a game it was a good performance over four quarters,” he said.
“We were a lot better this week and we’ll be better again the following week.”
Ogier said Nicholas Mellington from Benalla had his best game of the season, while Isaac Muller had another strong game in the ruck.
Albury’s Nick Coughlan has continued to fire since returning from injury with another five goals to his name.
