The big man, who hurt his ankle against Corowa-Rutherglen in round 2, lasted just two games after a comeback against Albury on June 7.
Raiders co-coach Simon Bone said there was no point risking the talented young ruckman.
“It just wasn’t getting any better,” Bone said yesterday.
“It’s a real blow for us.
“You’re always going to get injuries at some point during the season and, unfortunately, there’s always a couple of long-term ones in there.
“The unfortunate part for us is that Luke is the player we can probably least afford to lose.”
The Raiders host Corowa-Rutherglen on Saturday.
The Roos have their own problems.
Much-improved forward Gerard Ormond has been suspended indefinitely for striking Wang- aratta’s Matt Hedin in Saturday’s fiery clash at John Foord Oval.
Ormond could not accept a one-match set penalty after taking that option for a previous incident.
The Roos this week sought a stay of proceedings for medical reasons.
Ormond will not appear at the tribunal until July 9, meaning he will sit out Saturday’ clash against the Raiders, regardless of fitness.
The young forward has provided a strong foil for star Luke Gestier in attack over the past month.
He looked to have cemented his spot in the Roos’ senior team with several strong efforts.
