The worst incident last night was when emergency services, including the SES, were called after a large gum tree fell on to the Hume Highway near Chiltern during heavy rain.
It blocked a northbound lane about 9.30pm.
No one was believed to have been badly injured, but several vehicles were damaged when they hit the tree.
Traffic slowed as the SES removed the tree.
An SES spokesman said volunteers had been called to only a few minor incidents yesterday.
One car slid off a road at Stanley after snow fell yesterday afternoon and several were bogged.
There was 8.2 millimetres of rain recorded at Albury Airport to 9pm, taking the monthly total to 37.8 millimetres.
Yarrawonga received 4.2 millimetres with about 20 millimetres for the month. Wangaratta received 6.6 millimetres.
The Bureau of Meteorology’s warning for wild weather passed without incident.
