The Saints, who won their clash by three points earlier in the season, led narrowly throughout with centre half-forward Nick Warnock proving the difference in a low-scoring tussle.
“The teams are very evenly matched and it was good to guts it out,” coach Luke Morgan said.
“You like to stand up when challenged and I thought we did that.
“Warnock kicked four of Benalla’s nine majors while Morgan, Josh Marchbank, James and Will Martiniello and Ryan Colbert also played well for the victors.”
Kyabram relied heavily on the evergreen Paul Newman.
Newman, who has missed a handful of matches this season, kicked three goals to take his tally to 33 for the home and away series.
Benalla still has firepower to return with Will Sullivan, Cameron Symes and James Martyn to play in coming weeks.
The Saints play sixth-placedShepparton United at Benalla this weekend.
