But after being kept on level terms early, the Saints regained composure to romp to a 63-point win.
“United threw everything at us and to their credit they played some very good football and stuck with us,” Saints coach Luke Morgan said.
“And credit to our boys, they rallied after half-time and played some consistent footy.”
Though the Saints are yet to drop a game, it hadn’t stopped them pushing themselves each week.
“We go into every game wanting to win it,” Morgan said.
“We have won every game, we’ve also improved at every outing.
“We’re a fairly attacking team with strong offensive players, and the past month we’ve been looking at strengthening the defensive side of our game all over the ground.
“And that’s shown over the past couple of weeks, keeping good teams to eight goals and nine goals last week — and that’s going to be key coming up to the end of the year.”
Morgan said it had been a team performance from the Saints.
Joshua Mellington kicked five goals and Nicholas Warnock four.
“Ryan Colbert has probably been our best player over the past six weeks,” Morgan said.
“We had good young guys in Tom O’Brien, who had probably his best game for the club across half forward, and Tom Havers had one of his better games.
“It’s not just three or four top players, but the development of our younger brigade.”
