The popular Ned Kelly-inspired beard competition has been opened up to a moustache category with the sections being natural look without styling products, and an anything goes look.
And there’s something for women and children this time around with a make-your-own-beard category.
The whiskers of all sorts will be judged from 1.45pm on Saturday during the 11th Ned Kelly Weekend at Beechworth, which starts tomorrow night.
“We are preparing for some out-there looks as women and children use whatever they want to create beards,” organiser Michael Beattie said.
Those with a Ned Kelly or Kelly Gang tattoo can also battle it out in a competition for the best Kelly-theme tattoo.
And hair and tatts is only part of it.
There will also be an auction and bush dance from 7.30pm on Saturday at the Memorial Hall.
A scale replica of Ned’s helmet will be among items up for auction.
Re-enactments on both Saturday and Sunday will include the siege of Glenrowan where the audience will see the Kelly gang engaged in a shoot-out with police before Anne Jones’ Inn burns down.
