Corryong Hotel Motel owner Joe Walsh described a group of intoxicated patrons as “young idiots”.
The group entered Mr Walsh’s establishment about 7.30pm on Saturday night and were served one drink before being asked to leave.
But things became violent when one of the men tried to re-enter.
“The group was heading outside and one of the young fellas decided to come back in but was asked to leave again,” Mr Walsh said.
“He took a swing at me but some patrons latched onto him and took him outside.”
Constable Justin Tyers, of Corryong police, said the man, who was celebrating his birthday, also damaged nearby property.
“We don’t know how much he had to drink, had been drinking elsewhere for his 18th birthday and arrived drunk so was asked to leave,” he said.
“A vehicle window was broken after the altercation when the offender was leaving.”
Mr Walsh said he had never seen the man before and had zero tolerance for anti-social behaviour at his bar.
“The person that was involved in the scuffle has received a life ban, I don’t mess around,” he said.
Police are investigating the matter and said the offender could face charges.
