INFORMATION about the fate of the embattled North Albury Sports Club has been in short supply since it became known at the weekend that it had gone into voluntary administration.
Its position should become clearer next week after Wagga-based administrator Chris Chamberlain met club directors yesterday for the first time to map out what happens next.
A members’ meeting will be held at the club on Monday night followed next Thursday by a creditors’ meeting.
The good news — if there is any — is Mr Chamberlain has said the club will continue to trade and the groups that use it, including the North Albury Football-Netball Club, still have access to its facilities.
Mr Chamberlain has also identified the club’s major creditors as the Australian Taxation Office, the Albury Council and the National Australia Bank and said more talks with those three would likely determine the club’s fate.
He said member support would be critical if the club was to have a future.
This makes it important for those parties, members and creditors alike to be involved in next week’s discussions.
Together, opportunities may be found to ensure the club can stay in business as a viable option.
