ALBURY goal-kicking machine Bobby Griffiths last night took out the Ovens and Murray’s Leo Burke award.
Griffiths, who brought up his century in the Tigers’ second semi- final win over Lavington, polled 10 votes in the final five rounds to score a runaway victory in the reserve grade count with 21 votes.
He finished five clear of Albury teammate Will Haberecht.
Yarrawonga youngster Damon Symes came third on 14 with Wodonga Raiders full-forward John Spencer and Lavington veteran Lachie Boyd tying for fourth.
Griffiths, who joined Albury from Howlong this season, described the best and fairest as a huge thrill but admitted his main focus was on beating Wangaratta in Sunday’s grand final at Lavington.
“To be fair, I should have kicked 130 if I was a better kick,” Griffiths said.
“My teammates looked after me really well.
“The most important thing is Sunday though, that’s the thing we really want to win.”
