North East Water said yesterday Benalla’s storages — Loombah Weir and McCall Say Reservoir on Ryans Creek — were holding 1400 megalitres, or 78 per cent of their capacity.
This was their lowest November level on record.
North East Water distribution manager Terry Wisener said Benalla’s October usage was 80 per cent higher than the October average, while inflows to the storages were one per cent of normal.
Stage two restrictions would come into force at noon on November 27.
The same restrictions would apply at Oxley and Moyhu from Monday as the level of Lake William Hovell fell.
Goulburn-Murray Water had reduced releases from the lake and cut King Valley irrigator allocations.
