Ian Deegan yesterday confirmed the group would meet at the German Austrian Australian Club at a date to be set, following a meeting of more than 200 concerned residents on Wednesday night.
Mr Deegan — a former mayor and long-serving councillor — said many people felt they were not being heard by the council and said communication was one of the main problems.
“I think there is a feeling with the councillors that if they do not listen this time, it’s at their peril on election day,” he said.
“There are very strong feelings from the public.
“Spending is at the top of the list, along with our high rates and high level of debt.”
The ratepayers group folded in 2010 after more than three years.
Mr Deegan said a similar group based in Shepparton had contacted him yesterday to help revamp the organisation.
He said major upgrades of central Wodonga and opposition to an art work costing up to $1 million were also high on people’s agenda.
The council has promised to reply in writing to many of the matters raised at Wednesday’s meeting.
