After making a delayed start to the season following a hamstring injury playing cricket, Cook was unstoppable as the Lions put losses against Glenrowan and Bright behind them to open their winning account.
Big forward Richard Jackson also played a leading hand kicking two goals and dragging down plenty of marks inside 50 metres.
Coach Scott McMasters said it was a relief to collect four premiership points after a tough start to the season.
“We hadn’t won a game so it was important we turned it around pretty quickly,” McMasters said.
“Against Bright last weekend our effort just wasn’t there as you should never get done by 80 points on a wet day.
“I pretty much flogged the boys at training during the week and they responded really well.
“Besides a patch in the second quarter, I thought we had control for most of the day.”
Cook had plenty of support with Kieren Schulz and Paul Glanville also playing well in their first matches of the season.
Whorouly held star Moyhu duo Jeremy Wilson and Jaimon McGeehan for most of the day but the Hoppers were able to mount continual challenges on the back of good performances from Leroy Dowling and Ryan Craig.
