James said yesterday he exp- ected the competition to be tight throughout the home and away series and expects Saturday’s opponent Moama to be one of the teams pushing for finals action.
“I don’t think there is an easy game this year,” James said.
“Moama has added a bit of experience and we will have to shut down its midfield.
“I’m happy with our start to the season though.
“While it was a bit of a blow losing to Barooga, we were pretty much equal with the exception of the second quarter.
“There has been some good positives.”
Mulwala has defeated Congupna and Finley this season while Moama has brought down Deniliquin and Congupna.
The return of Jackson Gash will be a timely inclusion for the Lions, while recruit Clint Runnalls will make his debut next month.
Nathalia hosts Numurkah, Tongala battles Echuca United. Rumbalara hosts Deniliquin and Barooga should be too strong for Congupna.
