Trailing the Bombers by nine points at half-time, the Demons went into overdrive, more than doubling their first-half score thanks to an eight-goal effort from Jack Stamp.
Stamp’s bag was only outdone by a nine-goal haul for Bonnie Doon’s Shannon Galea, but the Demons found more goalkicking options across the ground, with Nathan Hooper booting five and Steven Williamson kicking four after starting at centre half-back.
Williamson was best on ground for the Demons, who also found solid contributors in ruckman Jeff Whitehead and Bryce Mortimer.
Demons coach Luke O’Keefe said his side responded well after being outplayed in the first half.
“They ran forward really hard early and we didn’t work hard enough to stop it,” he said.
“But we’ve had a belief that we can score quickly once we gain the momentum.
“The pressure was on our midfielders to step up and hit the scoreboard, given that we don’t have one of those monster key forwards that some other clubs have.
“We had an even spread of contributors, but obviously Stamp’s game rotating through the midfield and forward was outstanding.
“We’ve had five good wins in a row now, Bonnie Doon and Bright included, and we are really set on that goal of breaking into the top two.”
The only sour note for the day were injuries to Ray Ussher and Jeremy Hourigan.
While O’Keefe was confident the Demons had the depth to cover for the injured pair, he said the loss of Hourigan in particular would hurt.
