But while the Cats face a tough task on the road to Echuca South Recreation Reserve, coach Andrew Richardson’s only focus is on his team carrying on its good form.
“This week’s game is a big game, as the season has shown,” he said.
“But it’s a very even competition and all games are important.
“The way the season’s panning out every game is important, so we just want to string wins together and take each game as it comes.
“The competition being so tight any win is of value and the structure of the top six and top two will go right down to the line.”
Richardson said the Cats had begun to build momentum and, having dispatched Rumbalara, Congupna and Nathalia, had strung together three wins in a row.
Richardson praised the efforts of Finley’s home-grown talent, with the club’s local talent rising to the challenge in recent weeks.
“They’ve been fantastic,” Richardson said.
“Tim, Cam and Will Robertson, Reid Crowe, Matt Jackson, Shaun Kable — they’re really combining well with the guys who come from Melbourne each week.”
What’s more, the Cats’ ranks will be bolstered with the return of two of their hardest players Mick Littlejohn and Lachie Small.
The Eagles would still start the game as favourites.
