Only seven days after blasting Wangaratta Rovers by 143 points at the same ground, the Tigers showed they have lost none of their hunger with another percentage-boosting win.
Elliott Powell, Will Blomeley, Chris Hyde and Joel Mackie kicked goals in the opening 20 minutes to put Myrtle- ford on the back foot. From there, it was a procession as the home team peppered the scoreboard.
Co-coach Daniel Maher said the evenness of the performance had impressed him most.
“The good thing at the moment is that we aren’t having one really good quarter and then one really bad quarter,” Maher said.
“It’s been pretty consistent for the past two weeks.
“I thought we stuck to our structures pretty well and, although the game was ugly at times, holding Myrtleford to six goals was a good sign.
“Our back six were really solid.”
While selecting Albury’s best players was like a raffle, Joel Mackie was outstanding in the midfield. As well, he drifted forward to kick four goals.
Luke Packer continued from where we left off a fortnight ago with a strong performance in defence.
Dean Polo, Elliott Powell and Brayden O’Hara won plenty of the ball while Justin Carey continued his good form across half-back.
The late withdrawal of Aisake o’hAilpin and Michael Thompson mattered little for the Tigers as Setanta o’hAilpin, Jay Koehler and Will Haberecht held sway in the air.
Myrtleford co-coach Brad Murray was made to earn every possession with Joel O’Connell and Caleb Simmonds never far away but the Saint champion still had a big impact.
Billy Williams and Matt Dussin also turned in solid performances.
The loss leaves Myrtleford anchored on two wins and facing a do-or-die clash against Wodonga Raiders at McNamara Reserve this weekend.
