The Demons were on the back foot for much of the first half as the Blues kept pace with the minor premiership fancies, even taking a 10-point lead into the main break.
Milawa’s class started to shine through in the second half though, kicking five goals to one in the third quarter to seize a 17-point lead, which was further extended by the final siren.
The Blues lost no fans for their efforts though, with Matthew King, Daryl Webb, Chris O’Connor, Bradley Bell and Xavier Murray kicking two goals each.
Milawa had its fair share of goalkickers as well, with Brent Newton (four goals) well supported by Tim Lewis (two), Luke Sims, Mark Scholte and Jack Stamp (two).
Elsewhere, Bonnie Doon pulled ahead of Bright on the ladder with a four-point win, led by William Puruntatameri.
The Mountain Men were forced to play catch-up all day.
They didn’t trail by more than nine points at any break but couldn’t reel in the Bombers despite closing the gap late in the piece.
Bonnie Doon’s Thomas Buckley was the difference between the teams, kicking five goals in an influential display, while Shannon Galea booted four for Bright.
The Bombers will put their premiership credentials to the test again next weekend when they face the undefeated Glenrowan, while Bright will play Moyhu.
