Every year the awards recognise worthy citizens across all states and territories in four categories: Australian of the Year, Senior Australian of the Year (for those aged 65 and over), Young Australian of the Year (for ages 16 to 30) and Australia’s Local Hero.
Nominating someone is a great way to recognise the work they do for the community.
And this year the nomination process has been made even easier.
Fill in a short form at www.australianoftheyear.org.au, telling the committee who you are nominating and why, and giving their age and what state they are from.
All eligible nominees receive a certificate and, who knows, the person you admire could be receiving one of the nation’s most prestigious awards on Australia Day.
To make your nomination go to Australian of the Year awards now.
Nominations close on August 3.
