Reach for the Sky celebrates the 75th anniversary of the Australian Air Force Cadets, particularly Albury-Wodonga’s unit, 12 Squadron, which trained teenage boys between 1942 and 1946. In 1991, the Border group reformed and continues today as 412 Squadron.
Ted Landon, one of the original cadets, praised the training and discipline offered by the program.
“It was the making of a lot of men,” he said. “It was an experience I'll never forget.”
About 120 Border cadets, including Mr Landon, went on to join the air force during World War II.
