The Hoppers last week sent Greta packing thanks to a scintillating third quarter in which they bagged seven unanswered goals.
“I was pretty stoked with the way we started,” Waite said.
“The first half was a bit scrappy, but once we settled down we were ok.
“We ran out of legs a bit in the last quarter, match fitness is something we need to work on, but ultimately we're well placed.
“Games like this (against King Valley) are ones we need to win if we want to play finals.
“I think the Roos will be thereabouts again this year.”
Corey Smith booted nine fore the Hoppers last week, with Waite saying he could be key to their season.
“He's a difficult match-up, we'll try and leave him one out,” he said.
