Having become standard antenatal care in some UK hospitals and common in metropolitan Australia, hypnobirthing is now giving parents-to-be in Albury-Wodonga and the North East another tool to manage labour.
Let’s Hypnobirth Baby and Indigo Gentle Beginnings launched Hypnobirthing Australia programs in Albury-Wodonga and Beechworth in September.
Let’s Hypnobirth Baby founder Sophie Lynch left a corporate career to focus on hypnobirthing, having used the techniques to birth sons Paddy, 4, and Myles, eight months.
Ms Lynch said hypnobirthing used deep relaxation, light self-hypnosis, visualisation and breathing techniques to manage labour.
“I’m preparing women to calmly meet whatever turn their birth takes – from first-hand experience I know in my heart what an amazing technique it is,” she said.
