Holbrook police caught a truck travelling 12km/h over the 100km/h limit about 6pm last night. They say the truck’s speed limiting device had been tampered with.
The driver was given an infringement notice.
Supt Stuart Smith, the operations commander of the NSW traffic and highway patrol, said the driver showed gross negligence.
“The joint heavy vehicle taskforce continues to identify and prosecute those that deliberately tamper with speed limiting devices for the benefit of road safety for all NSW road users,” Supt Smith said.
There was another tampering case earlier yesterday when a B-double with a tampered speed limiter was caught travelling 25km/h over the limit near Moree, police say.
