The move means no ballots will be posted to voters with mayor David Wortmann and fellow incumbent Aaron Scales returned with newcomers Peter Tolsher, Jennifer Star and Andrew Whitehead.
Mary Fraser, Debi Gadd and Peter Joyce are retiring.
The shire is likely to receive a significant discount on the election administration costs billed to it by the Victorian Electoral Commission.
Cr Wortmann was pleased with the prospect of a saving, saying “we can do with every dollar we can get”.
He lauded the retiring trio, noting it was the end of an era with the exit of Cr Fraser who has been on Towong Shire since 1997 after 11 years on Tallangatta Shire.
Tallangatta’s Mr Tolsher is a manager at North East Water, Mr Whitehead a farmer/tradesman from Corryong and Cudgewa’s Mrs Star the secretary of The Man From Snowy River Festival.
