TR Register Australia, for owners of Triumph sports cars, will hold its annual get-together and competition on the Border. About 160 people and 70 cars are expected to attend, with many staying on for a three-day after-tour of the North East.

Club president Russell Holliday said the cars, built in England between 1953 and 1961, would be displayed in QEII Square from 9.30am Saturday.

For the judging, or concours, the exhibits will be assessed for their presentation and originality.

Mr Holliday said most Triumph owners tended to be older, but the club was trying to involve younger people.

“A number of the cars are being inherited by the kids,” he said.

Lavington’s Rob Clarke has owned his Triumph for about four years and is looking forward to the weekend.

“Travelling around the area, meeting all the members,” he said. “It’s a good British car.”
