Hatton was named in a 14-man line-up to play in the Australian Country Championships at Wollongong in January.
He is the first Cricket Albury-Wodonga player to represent the state since Kieran Knight (2003) and Steve Wright (2001).
“It’s a bit overwhelming,” Hatton, 22, said.
“I’ve just tried to work my backside off in the nets and improve as much as I can.”
Hatton joined St Patrick’s from Rutherglen three years ago and rocketed to prominence with a devastating spell against Wodonga in last season’s finals.
Skipper Kane Arendarcikas described the performance as one of the best he has seen.
“I think that game against Wodonga gave me some self-belief,” Hatton said.
“I spent five or six games at Northcote as well which really helped my cricket.”
Wagga’s Jon Nicoll was also selected in the NSW Country side.
