Abdominal Incision might sound a bit dark for a band of musicians under 18 – but the name is perfectly fitting.

Bass guitarist Shaun Moore, 17, inspired the name after joining long-time friends Kobi Yates-Burger, 15, and Reece Romero, 16, to form the group last year.
“Summer holidays last year, we were going over some dirt jumps at Reece’s house,” Shaun said.
“As I came down from the jump I’ve toppled over and the handlebars dug into me.
“I had internal bleeding on my spleen and got rushed to Royal Melbourne Hospital.
“When I started playing with them, we thought we’d go with that.”
While the name may attract laughs, their music doesn’t – the band will represent the Hume region next month in the FReeZA Push Start competition final.
Reece said the Melbourne crowd would be the biggest to ever hear their music – all their own work, but no doubt inspired by idols.
“Back in the day, one of my cousins showed me Tenacious D and ever since then I’ve just got heavier.
“We’ll be playing in front of thousands … how spooky.”
