John Salmon discovered an estimated 50 to 100 tyres on the side of Felltimber Creek Road in Wodonga on Tuesday morning.

He believes the tyres must have been dumped in the past week and said the incident was both “sad and disappointing”.

It came after 100 tyres were recently dumped on the Lake Hume foreshore at Granya, which Dr Salmon said was likely linked. 

“It's always disappointing to see people dumping refuse and that's not an uncommon place for people to do it,” he said. 

“The timing just makes you think it's got to be the same bloke who did it out at the weir. 

“Hopefully someone recognises their neighbour's tyre supply going down and will let the police know.”

According to the Environment Protection Authority, dumping industrial waste, including tyres, attracts fines of up to $777,300.
