It was for these efforts that Mrs Klinberg, one of the group's founding members, was made a life member in a surprise ceremony on Sunday afternoon.
She was on hand to present Albury mayor Kevin Mack with an $85,000 cheque to go towards a treehouse in the children's garden when the presentation was made.
“I've always loved gardening, I think it was bred into me,” she said.
“My mother was a keen vegetable gardener.
“There's been some changes here over the years, but I think it’s one of the best botanical gardens in Australia.
“Adding things like the children's garden has been great, there's never a day without kids in there unless the gate is locked.
“That's what we want – kids out and about enjoying the fresh air and seeing things happen.”
