With Adam Kennedy being placed on the long-term injury list, the 19-year-old has rocketed into contention to make his senior AFL debut this season.
Sproule, who joined the Giants as an academy selection in the rookie draft, has kicked 22 goals in 12 matches in the NEAFL.
He has been one of the few shining lights in a side which has been left severely undermanned.
Leon Cameron’s side has been decimated by injuries with Sproule and fellow Albury product Will Setterfield both named as emergencies for Saturday’s clash against Hawthorn.
Sproule played in Albury’s 2015 premiership.
His promotion comes only a week after Culcairn’s Jeremy Finlayson made his debut.
Finlayson hurt his knee in a tackle during the second quarter against Geelong with scans revealing he would be sidelined for six weeks.
