No election was required in Corowa when three retiring councillors, Gary Poidevin, Bill Bott and Jan Doyle, were replaced by Paul Miegel, Francesco Bruinsma and Joan Palmer, who had previously been a councillor.
Mr Poidevin is seeking a comeback as an ungrouped candidate.
Also, just one of Urana Shire’s three wards needed an election five years ago.
Above and below the line voting will also be a first for ratepayers of the merged council area with the emergence of five groups or tickets which are commonplace in Albury elections.
In nearby Edward River Council, which was a merger of the Deniliquin Council and Conargo Shire, there are 17 ungrouped candidates.
