Greater Hume Shire has this week approved Holbrook’s Ten Milk Creek crossing being named the Germanton Bridge.
Woolpack Inn Museum committee member Laurel Willis drove the change, saying it would recognise the town’s German heritage.
“I think it’s a positive thing for the community, connecting back to the past is a really good thing to do,” Mrs Willis said.
Shire general manager Steve Pinnuck said a timeframe for the name change was yet to be determined.
It will depend on Albury Street, which includes the bridge, being officially transferred to the shire from Roads and Maritime Services’ administration.
