Albury City remain undefeated and capture league title with 4-0 win against Albury Hotspurs

Albury City officially can’t be caught in the hunt for the AWFA senior women’s league title.

The undefeated City outfit took down Albury Hotspurs 4-0 on Sunday to rule out Boomers’ mathematical hopes of sneaking away with the crown.

Boomers were put to the test against Albury United after conceding in the first minute of the game, but prevailed 5-2 winners and will finish the home and away season in second spot.

Isabella Claxton finished with two goals to help get Boomers over the line.

The result allowed Wodonga Diamonds to jump back into third spot after its 7-1 victory against the bottom-placed Cobram.

St Pats won the remaining game of the round after it proved too strong for Melrose, 4-1, while Wangaratta and Myrtleford enjoyed the bye.

The ladder after round 21 is: Albury City 63, Boomers 57, Wodonga Diamonds 44, Albury United 41, Wangaratta 37, St Pats 34, Myrtleford 32, Albury Hotspurs 25, Melrose 18, Cobram 13.
