The member for Benambra used his speech to float the idea.
“My grand vision would see an air freight terminal, perhaps at Barnawartha, carrying fresh produce and manufactured goods direct to the world and right out of our own backyard,” Mr Tilley said.
“It would open the door to value-adding to our competitive advantage in growing clean, high quality meat, grains, vegetables and wines to name a few.”
Bank chief executive David Marshall responded: “If you build the airport, we’ll put an ATM in there.”
The branch is the first specialty shop to open at Wodonga Place, the former site of the Safeway supermarket.
About $400,000 was spent fitting out the premises with 25 Border firms engaged.
It replaces branches in High Street and Wodonga Plaza and features three ATMs and Wi-Fi.
