Newton was officially announced as part of the roster last week.
The power forward emerged as a key part of the Bandits roster in his first season at SEABL level after joining the club from the Big V.
He averaged 14 points and six rebounds in an impressive season cut short by a knee injury.
Crucially, it was Newton's shooting that made him a dangerous combination alongside Darcy Harding.
Newton shot 50 per cent from the field over 18 games, including an elite mark of 42 per cent from three point range.
The SEABL season is set to wrap up this weekend, with the grand finals tipping off on Saturday.
Geelong take on Bendigo in the women's final, while reigning champions Mt Gambier face Dandenong in the men's decider.
