Catholic College Wodonga previewed R U OK? day on Wednesday by collecting the year 7, 8 and 9 students together to spell out those letters on the sports oval.
Year 8 media student Logan Smith flew a drone over the group to capture photos and video of the occasion.
School psychologist Cassie Neville said the awareness day continued at lunchtime with music, food, artwork and a photo booth.
“We encouraged students to hop off their lap tops and engage in some conversations and some fun activities with each other,” she said.
“To get kids to hang out in a different way to what they normally would at lunchtime. It’s to create ongoing conversations, so kids know that it’s OK to ask for help or ask each other if they’re feeling a bit down or not themselves lately.”
R U OK? Day on Thursday reminds people to ask family, friends and colleagues a simple but meaningful question that could make a difference to anyone who might be struggling.
