Of businesses surveyed, 60 per cent are feeling more positive about the year ahead than they have in seven years and 70 per cent of businesses are optimistic about the outlook over the next 12 months.
This upsurge in confidence is also evidenced in the 62% of businesses that plan to undertake capital improvements in the next year, which is the highest percentage in 8 years.
Wodonga mayor Anna Speedie said it was great to hear businesses were increasingly confident on the Border.
She said throughout both districts there was increased activity, development and rejuvenation.
“This investment shows Albury Wodonga is a happening location, working to ensure it’s in the right position to capitalise on future growth opportunities,” she said.
Albury mayor Kevin Mack said more than half of respondents, 53 per cent, were generating sales online.
Other challenges include increased costs which impacted 59% of businesses, and cross-border issues which affected 42% of respondents.
