Port Kembla man Peter Jamison Jones was intercepted riding his Harley through the town on February 24 and asked to have a smoke after testing positive to methamphetamine.
While facing away from police, he tried to remove two caps of MDMA from his pocket but was caught in the act.
Jones told officers he had been travelling down to Melbourne to catch up with mates to “have a good time”.
He fronted Wodonga Magistrates Court on Tuesday and said a friend had put speed in his mouth two days before the positive drug test.
Magistrate Ian Watkins asked why he’d taken it.
“Just with the boys,” he replied.
He was fined $750 plus costs and was banned from driving for three months.
