WALLA coach Tom Simmons is keen for the Hoppers to build on their solid start to the season.
With last year’s wooden-spooner dropping only one of their opening four matches, Simmons said it was important to carry on.
“The club has struggled for a fair while so it’s good to be competitive again,” Simmons said.
“I think we’re heading in the right direction.
“Saying that we have a long way to go and want to be consistent.”
Walla will start favourites against Brocklesby on Saturday with Mark Taylor and Walter Paech providing good support for the in-form Simmons.
The Roos will need Matt Gadd, Doug Lavis and Karl Schilg to fire.
Rand host ladder leader Burrumbuttock.
Despite losing some good players from last year’s flag side, the Pigeons have remained strong and will take beating again.
Walbundrie has the bye this weekend.
