The winery’s 2017 Arneis took out the gong at Nagambie on Wednesday.
General manager and chief winemaker Marc Scalzo said they were thrilled.
“Arneis is one of our Italian varietals that is doing very well for us in Rutherglen,” he said.
“It is a fantastic wine, which is developing a real following.”
Rutherglen Estates was the only winery from the Rutherglen region to have a finalist in the inaugural Premier’s Trophy for Best Victorian Wine with its 2014 Limited Release Durif.
“We are constantly raising the bar on ourselves in terms of quality, and it’s always gratifying to have the outside world tell you that you are on the right track,” Mr Scalzo said.
