On Monday, Wodonga Library, in partnership with local preschools and Wodonga Council, hosted a special Superheroes Storytime to challenge gender stereotypes in careers.
Special guest storytellers Senior Constable Raquel Vogel, from Wodonga police and childcare worker Ben Cook read books that promoted gender equity.
The pair also spoke to the children about the possibilities of careers that challenge gender expectations.
Senior Constable Vogel and Mr Cook shared their experiences in careers where the majority of people are not of their gender.
The Superheroes Storytime was held as part of the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence against women and girls.
The 16 days of activism runs every year from November 25, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women, to December 10, Human Rights Day.
