The 188cm, 118kg powerhouse has been a regular member of junior representative teams in Group 16.
“He’s quite aggressive on the field but, off the field, he’s really quite a nice bloke, a gentle giant,” Bombala coach and ex-Thunder player Joe Bobbin said.
“He’s definitely hard to stop, we had him pretty fit this year and he was still weighing in around 115kg.
“He’s very mobile, has got good footwork and great strength.
“He’s one of those blokes that’s about to take his footy to the next level.”
Rodwell won Bombala’s best and fairest award, as well as best forward.
The league isn’t considered as strong as Group 9, but Rodwell’s standing at both club and representative level should guarantee he will make an immediate impression.
The Thunder missed finals last season.
