Mother and son Lisa Turner and Jack Wallace died when their Holden Captiva was hit by a petrol tanker at Staghorn Flat on August 7, 2014.
Peta Cox also died in the crash, which occurred on the Wodonga-Yackandandah Road.
Heavy Mechanics Pty Ltd maintained and serviced the Tieman tanker trailer.
WorkSafe charges state the business was required to disassemble the tow-eye coupling to look for damage and wear, and ensure the nut on the tow-eye was tightened to a certain level.
The safety authority alleges in the year prior to the tragedy, the Kane Road business failed to properly do this, with the trailer detaching and hitting the two oncoming vehicles at Staghorn Flat.
The matter will return to the Wodonga Magistrates Court on March 6.
