Dean Roy Wilson was erratic throughout his bail application in Albury Local Court on Friday, at one point mouthing the words “you, you’re a f … ing rat” to the police prosecutor.
Sergeant Andrew Coombs said Wilson, 48, should not be granted bail, citing his “significant history” of offending for stalking, his failure to answer bail in Victoria and a history of violence.
Magistrate Rodney Brender said he did not agree the alleged assault of the woman, the spitting, would result in jail for Wilson, who also faces a stalking charge.
The incident allegedly happened on Thursday just after 8.20pm.
Wilson, who has not entered a plea, must reappear in court on March 15.
