Wedding photographer Georgie James and planner Samantha Robinson have joined forces to establish the Love and Light Wedding Festival.
A bridal runway show featuring pieces from Jillian Franklin Designs and a debut collection by Megghan Louise will kick off the event at Tuileries Rutherglen on Saturday evening.
Ms James said it was the attractions on Sunday that set the event apart from others.
“I wanted to do something like this, but was stuck on the idea of it all having to be in one spot, and then I went to the Byron Bay wedding fair, which is across venues and the penny dropped,” she said.
“We have a five-year plan for the event and it’s about raising the profile of all the creative suppliers that serve the wedding market here, who are as good as anyone else.”
Ms Robinson said what made the event unique was the step away from cramped stalls and “plastic trestle tables”.
“It’s about collaboration – normally at a festival, you get your own space, whereas these exhibitors have to work together,” she said.
“The venues are wedding-ready with beautiful table sets, flowers, food, the whole lot; you’ll get to see what all these people can do together in a venue.
“Ticket holders will get quite spoilt – they will get a welcome drink upon arrival and canapes, and they will get a passport to stamp at each venue, to go into the draw for $10,000 worth of prizes.”
There are 200 tickets left, which must be pre-purchased at www.loveandlightweddingfairs.com.au.
