The well known real estate agency, who have been operating in the area for nearly 50 years, are using decades of experience to help ‘downsizers’ take the stress out of making a significant change to their lives.
“The thought of transitioning to a retirement village or downsizing can be daunting, there’s a lot to do, apart from moving home,” said Stanley & Martin’s retirement specialist Emma Brown.
“There can be a house to sell, a contract to sign, fees and charges to navigate and a different lifestyle to embrace.”
She said the Albury-Wodonga region offered a very attractive lifestyle option for regional residents as well as those from capital cities looking for a more affordable and relaxed location.
“There are a great range of retirement villages to choose from that offer an ‘aging in place’ service and they seem to be very sought after with waiting lists in place. The government has introduced the ‘stay at home’ services but we find a lot of people who are looking to move into a retirement village are doing so for a lifestyle change.
“A number of factors are taken into consideration when people are considering where they want to move to, whether it be staying on the same side of the border (as they currently live) or the style of housing on offer – it really is a unique preference to each person.
“Our new department offers an unbiased service guiding them through the retirement living selection process based on what is important to them.”
A ‘needs analysis’ is conducted with customers and a short list of possibilities is then delivered, followed by personal introductions to these selections.
“The short list can include a range of retirement villages and/or low maintenance properties.
“We share with our clients the services, amenities and the lifestyle of the residents at each village, and help them navigate tenures and explain ongoing fees. It’s a service that is ideal for people wanting to make that change but don’t know where to start.”
Emma said she believed Stanley & Martin were filling a gap in the local market and offering a level of service currently not available.
“We also work closely with developers to keep afresh of what is coming up in the housing market and this in addition assists those clients who are wanting to move into a new development should this better suit their lifestyle.”
The service is complementary, however should a client have a property to sell, the agency’s standard selling fees would apply.
