Only 48 hours after Albury forward Erish Uthayakumar suffered a dislocated ankle at Lavington, the Hawks have confirmed Booth had his nose broken in an accidental clash at Wangaratta last week.
“Mitch was going for a mark with Joey Richards from Maggies and copped one on the beak and broke his nose,” coach Sam Carpenter said.
“It was one of those things.
“They are trying to pump the league up and promote it and I guess he was just unlucky.
“We’re giving Mitchy a bit of stick about it because he’s got a bit of a hooter on him and Joe isn’t the biggest bloke going around.”
The Uthayakumar and Booth incidents occurred while filming a new advertisement which will be shown on television in both the lead-up and during the season.
Uthayakumar’s injury has devastated the Albury camp with the Tigers now going into the season without their two strike weapons after Josh Mellington joined Caroline Springs.
They kicked 47 and 99 goals last year.
Meanwhile, Wangaratta Rovers best and fairest winner Dylan Stone has transferred from Port Melbourne to Coburg in hope of playing more VFL games.
He has nominated the Hawks as his second club and could be a regular at W.J. Findlay Oval early in the season after undergoing corrective surgery on his left knee in November.
