Border to host state’s best at Victorian Softball Championships

Premier softball talent will compete for statewide bragging rights when the 2018 Victorian Softball Championships hit Albury this weekend.

Softball Albury-Wodonga has entered an open men’s and women’s team for the event at Jelbart Park.

Sunshine (open women's) and Waverley (open men's) are the defending state champions in the respective competitions.

Joanna Garoni, 15, is the youngest member of the women’s side, but is a multiple state representative at junior level.

Brad Nicholson, Alex Clayton and Dustin McDougall are among the players to watch in the men’s.

Action gets under way at 9am on Saturday and Sunday.
